Joinery is a platform that runs apps, like the Apple or Android ecosystem, except the whole platform is owned by you. You buy a domain, point it at a rented virtual server running Joinery, and all of your apps run on something you control.
Joinery's first major set of apps are a self-hosted replacement for the services most people get from Google: email, calendar, files, photos, contacts.
Because you own it and run it, it can't be shut down by a corporation. Your data isn't used for tracking, advertising, or training AI. There is no way for someone to lock you into increasing subscription costs.
Underneath it is proven, well-understood software pieces that run happily on a cheap server and will still be maintainable in ten years. Your data is in standard formats, which is exactly why leaving is easy.
There is more in the box than the core suite: events and registration, bookings, an AI assistant that runs on your own hardware, and paid plugins for commerce and server management. All of those are just extras. We hope there will be many more in the future.
Joinery is built and maintained by Jeremy Tunnell — former CTO of Thumbtack.com, PM of Stack Overflow, a software developer who got tired of having no control over his own data, endless advertisements, vendor lock-in, and escalating subscriptions.
Every feature in Joinery exists because it solves a real problem, not because a product manager needed to justify their headcount or because some Venture Capital firm wanted to extract some more marginal revenue.
The goal of this project is to build something sustainable and lasting that transcends the current advertising and data based model of the current internet.

The interface is intended to look similar to Gmail, work similarly, and in all ways, be a drop-in replacement....except with lots of extra features.

The free version is not limited or reduced functionality. It is not on a time limit. We don't cut off updates after a certain amount of time.
