What counts as noncommercial?

Personal projects, learning, hobby apps, open source side projects, nonprofits. If you're not generating revenue from the app, the noncommercial license covers you.

What do I need for White Glove Install?

A fresh Ubuntu 24.04 VPS (any provider — Linode, DigitalOcean, Hetzner, wherever), root SSH access, and a domain name pointed at the server. We handle everything from there.

What exactly gets installed?

Apache2, PHP 8.x, PostgreSQL, a fully configured Joinery site with its own database and config file, Apache VHost configuration, and SSL via Let's Encrypt (provisioned automatically once DNS is live).

Do you support me after install?

Community support is available via GitHub for all users. Paid support and upgrade assistance is available — email [email protected].

What's the business license for?

If you're building a commercial product on Joinery — a SaaS app, a paid service, a client project that generates revenue — you need a business license. It's a one-time $499 perpetual license under the Elastic License 2.0 (ELv2). Email [email protected] to purchase.

What license do my plugins and themes need to be under?

Any license you want. The PolyForm Noncommercial license covers the Joinery core. Plugins and themes you write are your own code — release them under MIT, keep them proprietary, sell them commercially, or do whatever you like. Your code is yours.
